The big next fight is getting closer and closer, and with all the excitement from the fans, we can´t stop asking ourselves: how will be the outcome of this fight? Will Canelo have this victory under his belt one more time?
Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez will fight against Turkish boxer Avni Yildirim this next February 27th, and the fight will be performed in Miami, Florida, streamed via DAZN worldwide, except for Mexico. This fight announcement came along with a lot of different opinions from the box fans in general and specifically from Mexican Canelo fans.
On one side, some think that seems unfair Canelo fights an opponent which level of performance is not as equal as his, and on the other side, fans are happy and excited they´ll get to watch the Mexican champion in action, replacing time for last year worldwide events.
But why Canelo didn´t decline the fight? Well, even if he wanted to, the Turkish boxer is the mandatory opponent for Canelo by the WBC (World Boxing Council), and he previously promised to WBC to take this fight so they don´t take back one of his World Champion Belts, which comes as an obstacle for Canelo since hi has as a goal to unify all the world titles in the Super Middleweight division.
His last fight against Smith has made it clear that Canelo has come to the top of his career as a professional boxer, reaching his best boxing moment and hoping that the next 3 to 5 years will be the best years for his career.
As for the opponent, Avni Yildirim, a Turkish boxer who´s 29 years old, has a professional record of 21 victories, 12 of them for knock out and only 2 defeats. His last fight was in February 2019, against American boxer Anthony Dirrell, who won over Yildirim after he got a little injure above his eye, resulting in Dirrell's victory for calcifications to this point in the fight.
Although the different opinions that have been expressed and the new ones to come, there is no doubt that watching Canelo boxing is a great experience that unifies excitement, passion, and different emotions while the fight is taking place. For us in Canelo Phone, we´re excited about the fight and obviously rooting for our champion to take this fight as a victory, so don´t miss the fight next February 27th, and witness the victory of a true champion!
